Nick Germaine
Principal software architect. 14 years shipping production systems for startups to enterprises. 1M+ students trained.
Software Architect & Principal Engineer
Fourteen years shipping production systems for startups and enterprises. From custom software and web applications to DevOps automation and CTO-level architecture consulting.
Design preference: minimalism. Personality: maximalism.
Fourteen years in, I've shipped unshakeable codebases across an absurdly high volume of engagements. My background spans from co-founding companies to scaling engineering orgs as a CTO and technical lead, working remotely with clients across North America from my base in Nova Scotia, Canada.
The most potent debugging tool is 'systemic intuition'; if there's a latent flaw in the architecture, I usually find it before the tests even finish running. I operate at high speed, and I'm ruthless about maintaining clean, secure, and optimized architectures.
If I’m not at my desk obsessing over software optimization, I’m usually publishing books, recording music, or spiraling down obscure philosophical rabbit holes.
I type like I have four hands.
Obligatory "I use arch, btw".
Software Architecture & Development Services
Custom Software Development & Architecture
Diving into the deep end of complex solutions to build what others only dream of. I operate at high speed without sacrificing architecture.
CTO & Engineering Leadership Consulting
Scaling engineering orgs, co-founding ventures, and building unshakeable technical foundations from day zero.
Technical Course Creation & Content Strategy
Leveraging my 1M+ student footprint to build courses, curriculums, and educational content that actually converts and teaches.
I also manage an elite, hand-selected team of engineers to deliver end-to-end Web Services, CMS integration, and SEO optimization.
"Excellent work; A pleasure to work with! In addition to the specified requirements, he took on extra work and fixes of his own accord and time. We gave him a complex project (data analytics API), and he delivered. We are very pleased with the results, and highly recommend."
"This is the second time I worked with Nick. The first project was pretty routine and Nick did an excellent job. This project required a very high level of expertise and 4 months of full time work. Nick took everything I threw at him and transformed it into a beautiful website. He always had an immediate solution that worked perfectly.
The project in question had several enterprise level challenges that required understanding of not only programming but systems engineering and complex design elements. Despite the incredible complexity of the website, there was never a time when he couldnt create and execute my vision. He always had an immediate solution that worked perfectly.
Though not required, Nick also took the time to explain things to me so that I would understand the process and understand why things were being done a certain way. This was invaluable when parts of the requirements needed to be changed to keep up to the latest standards or because they had to be organized a little differently.
Having worked closely with Nick for 4 months full time, I can safely say that anyone who hires him will not be disappointed in his technical skill, customer relations, and design talent. He is a real deal programmer and web designer."
"Nicholas completed a very complex, high-end Chrome extension project. He is very skilled and had a solution for every obstacle encountered along the way. I have already hired him again for a second, third, and fourth project."
"Nick has all the abilities and talent to take an idea or a vision, and craft it into a great product. In one week, Nick had taken a concept and built an entire website and brand. Communication is always rock solid."
"Nicholas is incredible. There is nothing he can't do, and his communication is excellent. He makes great suggestions, is professional, and his output not only works well, but looks great too. Highly recommended!"
